In 2017 the financial services sector contributed £119 billion to the UK economy, 6.5% of total economic output. There were 1.1 million financial services jobs in the UK which equates to 3.2% of all jobs. (Commons Briefing, April 2018). It’s a key industry and can be financially lucrative yet increasingly competitive.
Membership in the key accountancy bodies is increasing and has grown by 2.4% between 2012 and 2016. As the industry grows, so it continues to attract qualified members.
